is a writer, editor, and general hellraiser. They lead the Politics section at Teen Vogue and contribute to them, where they think about and report on politics, identity, movements, and culture. Lex uses they/them pronouns.

Teen Vogue was awarded the Roosevelt Institute’s Freedom of Speech and Expression Award in 2025, celebrating their “crucial political coverage” for “fill[ing] a crucial gap in today’s media landscape.” In addition to their hundreds of stories for Teen Vogue — ranging from profiles of abolitionists, organizers, and pop culture figures, to political and cultural commentary, to reportage — Lex has spearheaded and run series on protest suppression in the United States, and political repression in Florida under conservative Gov. Ron DeSantis. A member of the Trans Journalist Association, in 2023 Lex was nominated for a GLAAD award for Outstanding Online Journalism for their 2022 criticism of how the New York Times and other liberal media approach trans healthcare.

Their political coverage has been published by outlets including the Cut, the BBC, The Nation, The New Republic, and The Appeal, and their culture writing has been published by i-D, Vulture, Alternative Press, Bitch Media, and more.

Lex has appeared widely in the media to discuss their work, including on MSNBC; NPR shows such as Code Switch and Here and Now; podcasts including It Could Happen Here and Death Panel; and more. They are available for class visits, and have visited college classes at New York University, Emerson College, and Clemson University, as well as run workshops for groups like Just Media. Lex is a regular panelist at conferences like SXSW and the Socialism Conference.

Lex is at work on a book proposal about their time as an anti-sexual violence organizer, #MeToo, and how abolitionist feminism can combat rape culture. They hold a Master of Arts in Creative Publishing and Critical Journalism from the New School for Social Research.
